Malvern Wells Funeral Director awarded distinction as team leads on qualifications

A Funeral Director at the Malvern Wells branch of Jackson Family Funerals has achieved a distinction in her professional qualification.

For Rachele Watson, the achievement means the Malvern Wells branch is now run by a fully qualified team. This sets it apart locally and reinforces the company’s commitment to the highest professional standards within the funeral sector across Worcestershire.

Speaking about her journey into the profession, Rachele said:

“I came into the funeral profession in my early 50s and took on a casual role as a pallbearer to get a ‘foot in the door’ to prove myself and hopefully work towards the role of Funeral Director. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to progress and to become qualified.”

The funeral profession is undergoing increased regulation, with a growing focus on formal qualifications and professional standards. Recent measures, introduced by the Competition and Markets Authority, require greater transparency around pricing and services, while new inspection frameworks for funeral directors in England are being overseen by the Care Quality Commission. These changes signal a shift towards greater accountability within the previously unregulated sector, with industry qualifications expected to play an increasing role as regulatory frameworks develop.

Rachele continues: “I am incredibly proud that the Malvern Wells branch is now run by two qualified female funeral directors, Amie and myself, and I hope this demonstrates our commitment to our profession and the communities we serve.”
